The Ministry of Health and Population has urged everyone to get their childrn vaccinated against measles and rubella to protect them from measles. The National Center for Health Education, Information and Communication under the Ministry of Health and Population has requested to vaccinate children with the first dose after nine months and the second dose after 15 months to protect them from measles and rubella.
In Nepalgunj, the ministry has asked its children not to miss vaccination after infection was seen in those who were not vaccinated against measles and rubella. Sagar Dahal, Head of Vaccination Branch, urged his children between the ages of nine and 15 months to get vaccinated against measles. Experts say that if two doses of vaccine are administered, its effectiveness will be 97 percent.
Measles, which is caused by the measles virus, has spread to Nepalgunj sub-metropolitan city. In Nepalgunj, 90 people have been confirmed to have measles and one person has died, the ministry said. The government has conducted a vaccination campaign in areas where measles has been reported. Three thousand children have been vaccinated so far where the vaccination campaign has started.
