The Speaker of the Far West Assembly will be elected (today) on Thursday . The Sudurpaschim Province Assembly Secretariat has informed that two candidates have been nominated for the post of the Assembly Speaker.
Bhim Bahadur Bhandari from the Maoist Center and Man Bahadur Rawal from the Nepali Congress are candidates for the Speaker’s post.
Bhandari is supported by 11 MPs from his party Maoist Center, 10 MPs from CPN-UML, 7 MPs from Citizens’ Liberation Party and one MP from RPP. Rawal has been supported by the MPs of the United Samajwadi Party along with his party Nepali Congress.
In the 53-member provincial assembly, at least 27 votes must be obtained to win the Speakership.
