The newly-appointed Chief Minister of Karnali Province, Raj Kumar Sharma, received vote of confidence today ( on Friday). The Chief Minister was scheduled to take the vote of confidence from the province assembly meeting as per the constitutional provision that the Chief Minister should take the vote of confidence from the province assembly within 30 days of the appointment.
25 MPs from four parties gave a vote of confidence to Chief Minister Sharma in the state assembly meeting held at afternoon.13 MPs from CPN Maoist Center, 9 from CPN UML, RP, CPN United Socialists and Independent (Devraj Shahi) have voted in favor of Sharma. 14 MPs of Nepali Congress have voted against.
According to, Province Assembly Secretary Jibraj Budhathoki an all-party meeting was held at 11:00 am and the province assembly meeting was summoned at 1:00 pm by today for the purpose of the vote of confidence motion. In the Karnali Province Assembly, CPN (Maoist Centre) has 13 lawmakers, UML 10, CPN (Unified Socialist) and RPP one each. The Nepali Congress has 14 lawmakers and one independent lawmaker in the province assembly.
