Sandeep Lamichhane is allowed to go abroad

The Supreme Court has allowed cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane to travel abroad. A joint bench of Justices Sapna Malla Pradhan and Kumar Chundal allowed him to go abroad. Also, the High Court has approved the order to release him on Patan bail.

Lamichhane was remanded in custody by District Court, Kathmandu in the case of minor rape. But the High Court overturned it and ordered him to be released on conditional bail.

Sandeep Lamichhane filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the High Court’s Patan order to prevent him from leaving the country. The High Court ordered that Patan be released on a bond of 20 lakhs with the condition that he cannot leave the country.

A petition was filed in the Supreme Court on Thursday on behalf of Sandeep, demanding to be allowed to go to Dubai to play the ICC Cricket World Cup League-2 with the mention that the said condition should be revoked.

Under the ICC World Cricket League-2, the Nepali team is playing in the ODI series against UAE and PNG in the UAE.
