Nepali Embassy in Madrid, Spain has organized a special program on the occasion of Fagu Festival and International Working Women’s Day. The program was organized at the ambassador’s residence in Madrid. Ambassadors of different countries, distinguished personalities of the Spanish government, diplomats, influential Spanish citizens, expatriates and other various people were attended in the program.
Nepali Ambassador to Spain Dr. Sharmila Parajuli Dhakal mentioned the importance of cultural exchange and diversity in a multicultural city like Madrid. She said that Holi is a symbol of bravery, compassion and peaceful self-existence. She also clarified about the rich culture and diversity of Nepal.
Ambassador Dhakal also remembered the invaluable contribution of women in various fields of society including education, health care, politics, business etc. Emphasizing the context in which women and girls played an important role in shaping the entire world, she expressed her firm commitment to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Songs, music and Nepali folk dances related to festivals reflecting the cultural diversity of the world were presented in the program . The personalities present at the program ate delicious Nepali dishes such as Bhakka, sellroti,sekuwa, potato pickle, meat etc.
According to the Nepali Embassy in Madrid, the program was organized in collaboration with various organizations in Spain. The embassy hopes to organize similar programs in the future. It is expected that the culture-based program will not only promote cultural exchange but also help strengthen the relationship between Nepal and Spain.
