The Ministry of Home Affairs has recommended the names of 5 DIGs for promotion to the vacant post of Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG). The promotion committee under the Home Ministry recommended the names of 5 DIGs in the meeting held on Friday.
DIG Basant Bahadur Kunwar is on the number 1 recommendation for promotion. Second is Tekprasad Rai, third is Deepak Thapa, fourth is Shyamalal Gyawali and fifth is Kiran Bajracharya. The tenure of current IGP Dheeraj Pratap Singh is ending on 9th Chait. Then one of them will become IGP.
