Ramsahay Prasad Yadav has been elected as the third Vice President of Nepal. Elected as the vice president, Yadav won by getting 30 thousand 328 votes.
329 state assembly members and 184 federal parliamentarians voted for him, who has the support of Congress, Maoist Center, United Socialists and other parties. 169 state assembly members and 104 federal MPs voted for UML candidate Ashtalakshmi Shakya.
15 state assembly members and 23 federal parliamentarians voted for Janmaat Party candidate Mamta Jha. Pramila Yadav, who announced the withdrawal of her candidacy, has received the vote of one state assembly member.
The Janata Samajbadi Party had decided to field its lawmaker Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav for Vice President. A central working committee meeting of the party held on Thursday decided to that effect .
Former minister Yadav is currently the parliamentary party leader of the Janata Samajbadi Party. Party chairman Upendra Yadav has been eyeing entering the House of Representatives through a by-election sending Ram Sahay as the Vice President.
