Kathmandu, March 27: Nepal’s First International Coin and Banknotes exhibition has started in Kathmandu from Monday.The three-day-long exhibition organized by Nepal Numismatic Society is ongoing in Nepal Arts Council, Babarmahal.
Coins and notes from Lichchhavi, Malla and Shah dynasties are kept in the exhibition, according to Society’s general secretary Dipendra Ratna Shakya.Former Prime Minister and Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal inaugurated the exhibition. In the exhibition, the numismatics from India have also participated.
The exhibition shall continue till Wednesday.The first paper note was issued in Nepal in 2002 BS though the central bank had not established. The notes of Rs 5, Rs 10 and Rs 100 were issued then with the sign of cashier Janakraj Pandit.
