Kathmandu, May 18: The 6th Nepal Chamber Expo-2023 kicked off here in Kathmandu today. Organised by the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC), Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Sharat Singh Bhandari inaugurated the expo amid an event.
The fair aims to encourage the business community by promoting the exports of domestic goods, said the NCC. There are 150 stalls set up for the expo that runs until May 22, and products like automobiles, electrical and electronic appliances, furnishings, essentials, clothes, mobile phones, handicrafts, and leather, cosmetic and ayurvedic products are on display.
National and International companies and businesspersons from Nepal, India and Bangladesh have participated.
Interactions, exchanges of information about imports and exports and the marketisation of Nepali products are expected from the expo, said the NCC. On the occasion, the minister stressed the need for the government and the private sector to go hand in hand for the country’s economic prosperity.
He called for the private sector to increase investment while saying the government would facilitate them for increasing economic activities. Similarly, the ministry secretary Madhu Kumar Marasini expressed the hope that the fair would help exchange national and international business experiences, and further expand business relations nationally and internationally.
Also, the NCC President Rajendra Malla stressed the need for attracting foreign investments in agriculture, hydropower, tourism and the service sector, and promoting exports and increasing domestic productions to make the country self-reliant.
