Kathmandu, June 1: A long-term electricity trade agreement has been signed between Nepal and India. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi informed that under this agreement, India is aiming to purchase 10,000 megawatts of electricity from Nepal in the next 10 years.
In a joint press conference with the Prime Minister of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Prachanda, Modi said that many important agreements have been signed between the two countries. The agreement reached on Khurkot-Kanali and Lower Arun hydropower projects will further strengthen our energy relations.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the relationship between Nepal and India is getting stronger during his tenure. He announced that the Nepal-India Petroleum Pipeline will be extended to Chitwan. He also said that another pipeline will be built from Siliguri to Jhapa.
