kathmandu, June 6: The Koshi state government has been dissolved by the CPN-Maoist Centre.The Maoists withdrew their support to the government and left the government on Tuesday.Koshi State is now governed by a CPN-UML coalition. The Maoists have now fled the central government with plans to appoint a chief minister from their own party.
Hikmat Bahadur Karki, the leader of the UML parliamentary party, was appointed Chief Minister on Poush 24 (Jan 8) by the Maoist Centre, RPP, CPN-S, and JSP.
From the 93-member Koshi state assembly, a majority of 47 MPs is required to form a government.The current government was supported by 40 UML MPs, 13 Maoist Centre MPs, 6 RPP MPs, 4 CPN-S MPs, and 1 JSP MP. However, JSP had already quit the government.The UML-led government is now in a minority.
