Kathmandu: The country is currently experiencing monsoon, resulting in moderate to heavy rainfall forecasts.According to the Weather Forecasting Division (WFD), the monsoon’s low-pressure trough has deviated from its usual position.
It is now located south of its typical location in the west and north of its usual place in the east. Currently, Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces are undergoing signific nt changes in weather conditions, while the remaining regions are experiencing partial to normal changes.
The Division reports light to moderate rainfall in several areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, with a few places in other provinces also receiving rain. Additionally, heavy rain is occurring in two locations within Koshi and Madhesh provinces.
The Division further states that there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in certain areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as a few places in the other provinces. In Koshi province, there is a chance of heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in one or two locations.
Moreover, the Division has warned of potential wind and storm conditions in some parts of the Terai region in Madhesh province and Koshi province. During the night, light to moderate rain is expected in certain areas of all provinces, with normal to complete changes.
Furthermore, a few places in Koshi and Gandaki provinces may experience heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning, while parts of Terai in Madhesh and Lumbini provinces might encounter wind and storm conditions.
Due to the anticipated rainfall and storms, it is important to note that road and air transportation, health services, agriculture, tourism, and other areas of daily life may be adversely affected, it said.
Consequently, the Division has strongly advised individuals to take necessary precautions to mitigate risks and minimize damage resulting from potential hazards such as wind storms, heavy rain, thunder and lightning, flash floods, landslides, and soil erosion.
