Kathmandu, July 13: The Supreme Court has ordered communication Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut, who was arrested in the Lalita Niwas scam, to be produced before the court within 24 hours.
The single bench of Judge Teel Prasad Shrestha passed the order after the preliminary hearing on Raut’s detention writ. The bench asked to submit a written reply through the attorney general’s office with the prisoner within 24 hours apart from the deadline.
A few days ago, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested Secretary Raut from Kathmandu Airport when he was going to Biratnagar. The CIB alleges that Raut, who was the branch officer at the time, raised a comment in the case that the government land of Lalita Niwas was acquired and registered in the name of an individual.
