Gold Seizure Case : Toll arrests reached 7, a chinese national too apprehended

Kathmandu, July 20: One more Chinese national has been apprehended in connection with the seizure of around almost quintal of gold from Tribhuvan International Airport. Nepal Police arrested Chinese citizen Jiquan Lin from the airport. He was arrested by the police at the airport when he was about to flee to China by Tibet Air.

The Airport Security Police Office arrested him on Thursday afternoon. The Revenue Investigation Department informed the Immigration Department to arrest him. The arrest was made based on the information given to the airport police by immigration. Six people have already been arrested, two on Wednesday evening and four on Thursday morning in the case of gold brought in by defrauding customs.

According to the Nepal Police and Customs Department, which is investigating the gold case, six people have been arrested so far in the case, including Ramkumar Bhujel from Dolakha, Dilip Bhujel from Bhojpur, Harkaraj Rai from Bhojpur, Indian citizen Thapten Chhiring, agent Rajan Rai and taxi driver Ashok Lama.

On Wednesday, 100 kg of gold coming through Hong Kong was seized by the Revenue Investigation Department while it was being brought in a taxi after passing through customs at the Tribhuvan International Airport. With this, the number of people arrested in this case has reached 7.
