Kathmandu: The National Assembly (NA) meeting on Monday was marred by obstruction from the CPN-UML, as they demanded the formation of a high-level investigation committee to probe the one-quintal gold smuggling case.UML lawmaker Dil Kumari Rawal asserted that the government’s ongoing investigation would fail to identify the main culprits unless a high-level committee was formed.
Citing previous cases of corruption investigations, she expressed concerns that the government’s efforts might merely be an attempt to deceive the general public. National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Timalsina also used the platform to call upon the top leaders to address the issue and find a resolution.
Despite efforts to urge the UML to cooperate, the meeting had to be adjourned until Wednesday due to the persistent obstruction from the party.
