Kathmandu, September 22: An agreement has been reached between the government and the teachers protesting against the education bill. Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, said that an agreement has been reached to fulfill the demands raised by the teachers through the parliament considering parliamentary supremacy.
She said that the teachers will also withdraw the agitation with the agreement. Sharma, who is also the spokesperson of the government, said that the agreement was based on the proposal submitted by the government.
It has been agreed to change some of the provisions in the bill to amend and integrate the laws related to school education, respecting the sovereignty of the parliament, to proceed with the process according to the parliamentary system, practice and existing methods related to the operation of the federal parliament.
It has also been mentioned in the agreement that a study committee will be formed with the representation of Nepal Teachers Federation and experts on the adjustment of teachers, level system and periodic promotion and necessary legal arrangements will be made according to the committee’s report.
