Sindhuli: The condition of some teachers who sustained injuries in an accident in Sindhuli district on Friday morning, is critical, police said. An electric van, Madhesh Province 04-001 J 0062, carrying teachers coming to Kathmandu to take part in the ongoing relief quota teachers’ movement, met with an accident at Bohoretar in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality around 8 am today.
According to the District Police Office, Sindhuli, among the injured, 34-year-old Mukunda Thapa, a resident of Kamalamai Municipality-1, is in critical condition. Thapa has sustained a deep injury to his head, informed Chiranjeevi Dahal, Deputy Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Sindhuli.
In the accident, 46-year-old Nirkumar Chalise, a teacher of Kamalamai, has got his both hands broken and has injuries in various parts of his body. Garki Basnet, 40, an expecting mother from Banepa Municipality of Kavre- 10, was also injured in the accident. The police said that her condition is normal.
Similarly, 40-year-old Rajan Karki of Tinpatan Rural Municipality-10, Sindhuli, has broken his right arm and left leg in the accident. Similarly, Kamala Ghimire, 46, of Kamalamai-5, Sindhuli, 41-year-old Bhuwan Thapa of Kamalamai-1, 40-year-old Babita Devkota of Kamalamai-4, 64-year-old Bishnu Dhakal of Kamalamai-6, her son 11-year-old Nischal Dhakal and 40-year-old Saroj of the same place sustained injuries, said SP Rajkumar Silwal of District Police Office, Sindhuli.
A total of 11 people including the driver were traveling in the ill-fated van.’The van fell off the road and met with an accident at the narrow turning of Bohoretar’, SP Silwal told , ‘The injured have been taken to Dhulikhel Hospital.’
