Local level employees also stage movement, indefinite ‘protest program’ begins

Kathmandu, 1 Oct. The local level employees have started a pressure ‘protest program’ at Maitighar Mandala. Representatives of all 753 levels of employees gathered in Kathmandu and started an indefinite pressure sit-in.

The agitating employees have demanded that the Unified Civil Service Act should be issued in place of the Federal Civil Service Act, the post of chief administrative officer of the local level should be made in the local service and the local level employees should also be included in the definition of civil service.  Similarly, they have been demanding transfer of 753 local levels to scientific predictable cyclical system without consent and proper management of the adjustment staff (following the directive orders of the Supreme Court).

In this regard, the employees of the local government should make arrangements for the development of the same profession, the employees working in the local level should make mandatory arrangements for the Employees Welfare Fund, the local service employees should be provided with the facility of service facilities received from Civil hospital, the employees of the local service should be given the right to apply the service period in the advertisement and the employees of the local service should be given the right to add the service period to the employees. The employees have been asked to take care of the employees.

Vinay Kumar Devkota, General Secretary of the Local Level Employees Central Struggle Committee, has warned that if the demands are not met through the peaceful protest program, the work of the local level will be stopped.
