Kathmandu Valley records coldest day today at 3.5 Degrees Celsius

Kathmandu, Jan 5: The minimum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley has dropped to 3.5 degrees Celsius today, compared to yesterday’s minimum of 4.5 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologist Govind Jha from the Meteorological Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology reported that the minimum temperature was recorded at 3.7 degrees Celsius at 6:30 this morning. By 8:45 AM, it further decreased to 3.5 degrees Celsius, marking the lowest temperature so far this season.

With the drop in the minimum temperature, Kathmandu is experiencing colder conditions today compared to previous days. The Meteorological Forecasting Division notes a partial effect of the westerly winds in Nepal, leading to light snowfall in certain areas of the highlands and mountainous regions in Koshi and Gandaki provinces. Additionally, heavy fog is reported in the Terai region.

The influence of the westerly winds is causing some changes, aiding in clearing the fog. However, meteorologists emphasize that there is no immediate prospect of rain in Nepal for the next week. Meteorologist Binod Pokharel shared on the social network X, “The influence of the westerly wind has changed and helped to remove the fog, but there is no chance of rain in Nepal for the next week.”
