Kathmandu, Jan 26: Afghanistan has set a target of 146 runs for Nepal in the U-19 cricket tournament. Batting first, Afghanistan scored 145 runs in 40.1 overs. Afghanistan captain Nasir Khan decided to bat first against Nepal.
Nepal’s Akash Chand took 5 wickets for 34 runs in 8 overs. Dipesh Kandel took two wickets for 17 runs in eight overs.
Gulshan Jha took one wicket for 42 runs in 8 overs. Subash Bhandari took one wicket for 15 runs in 8.1 overs. Tilak Bhandari took one wicket for 28 runs in eight overs.
Both teams are without a win in the tournament. The team that wins this match will go to the Super Six of the World Cup. Nepal’s chances remain as the top three teams from the four-team group will advance to the second round. Nepal is ranked third in terms of net run rate ahead of Afghanistan.
Nepal’s match against Afghanistan will also be drawn. Nepal lost to New Zealand by 64 runs in the first match and lost to Pakistan by five wickets in the second match on Wednesday.
