Padma Prasad Pandey appointed as ‘General Secretary’ of federal parliament

Kathmandu:  President Ram Chandra Poudel hass appointed Padma Prasad Pandey as the General Secretary of the Federal Parliament. After Pandey resigned from the post of Secretary of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, the President accepted the resignation and appointed him as the General Secretary as per the earlier recommendation.

Spokesperson at the Office of the President, Shailaja Regmi Bhattarai, said the President has appointed Pandey as the Secretary General of the Federal Parliament as per Article 106 (1) of the Constitution.

Although the joint recommendation of the Speaker and the Chairman of the National Assembly was kept on hold by the President for a long time, it was not approved by the President. Although it was said that the President had put the recommendation on hold after the controversy over his citizenship, there was also talk of political reasons in it.

Earlier, Dr Bharat Raj Gautam was the General Secretary of the Federal Parliament. Pandey’s appointment was recommended after he resigned on Mangsir 24, but there was a controversy. The President appointed Pandey after constant pressure from the UML.
