Kathmandu, Feb 13: Nepal will take on Maldives in the ongoing ACC Women’s Premier Cup in Malaysia today. The match will begin at 11:15 am Nepali time in Bangi.
In Group D, Nepal has reached the quarter-finals with four points from two matches. Nepal wants to remain unbeaten and play in the quarter-finals. The match against Nepal will only be for prestige as Maldives has been knocked out of the tournament with both the initial defeats.
Nepal defeated Bhutan and Hong Kong by eight wickets each. Maldives lost to Bhutan by 94 runs and Hong Kong by 172 runs. Hong Kong’s Mariko Hill scored 100 and Chan Ka Ying Carey scored 87 runs.
Nepal wants to win easily against the relatively weak Maldives. Nepal’s Sita Rana Magar has been named player of the match for her all-round performance in both the matches. Rubina Chhetri and Indu Verma are also in good form. Kabita Kunwar is nepal’s leading fast bowler.
Nepal can give a chance to middle-order and lower-order batters before playing in the quarter-finals today. The 16-team tournament is divided into four groups. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals. The two semi-finalists will be able to play in the Asia Cup.
