Suhang formally stakes his claim in Ilam-2

Ilam,10 March: Suhang Nembang has formally staked his claim for the vacant House of Representatives in Ilam-2. The by-election in Ilam-2, which was lying vacant after the death of UML’s then vice-chairman and Constituent Assembly chairman Subash Chandra Nembang on Bhadau 26, will be held on Baisakh 15.

Suhang has applied to the task force formed by the CPN-UML Ilam for the by-election. Suhang is the youngest son of late leader Subash Chandra.

UML district committee had formed a task force under the coordination of vice-chair Udaya Bahadur Rai with secretary Umesh Gurung, under-secretary Bishnu Maya Acharya and members Mukhraj Angdembe and Deep Kishor Lingdam as members. Subash Chandra’s son Suhang was also likely to contest the by-election. He came to Ilam a week ago and submitted his claim through an application.

UML Ilam vice-chair and taskforce coordinator Rai said Suhang had also applied for candidacy. According to Rai, UML’s Ilam under-secretaries Rabindra Subedi, Buddhi Khanal and Devi Chhetri Dulal have also staked claim. The taskforce is preparing to submit the list of candidates to the district committee by Chait 3.

Suhang, an advocate by profession, has increased his activities in Ilam in recent times. He is currently busy with meetings and interactions. In the meantime, he said that he was excited by the response from the cadres and well-wishers.
