Gandaki Province CM splits two ministries, to accommodate coalition parties in Cabinet

Pokhara, 11 April: The Gandaki state government has decided to add ministries. A meeting of the Council of Ministers led by Chief Minister Khagaraj Adhikari on Tuesday decided to increase the number of ministries to nine. Earlier, Gandaki had seven ministries.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers on Tuesday decided to split the ministry into health and internal ministries, according to government spokesperson and non-departmental minister Hari Bahadur Chuman.

According to government spokesperson Chuman, it has been decided to separate the Ministry of Health from the Ministry of Social Development and Health and the Internal Ministry with the Chief Minister.

Earlier, the Khagaraj Adhikari-led government had in Push last year decided to reduce the existing 12 ministries in the province to seven. Chief Minister Adhikari has decided to increase the two ministries to divide the government after finding it difficult to get a majority.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered the Government of Khagaraj Adhikari not to take any decision on the writ petition filed by the Gandaki Congress on the formation of the government with the signature of the Speaker.
