Kathmandu: Electric cremation services at Pashupati Aryaghat will be provided free of charge from July 17. Milan Kumar Thapa, member secretary of Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT), announced this decision upon assuming office on Wednesday. This decision aims to alleviate financial burden on citizens during times of bereavement.
Thapa also disclosed plans for the construction of a large international library at Seto Sattal, Guheshwori. “We have decided to establish an international-level library dedicated to religious and cultural studies,” he stated. “These decisions were formally proposed and approved during the PADT Board of Directors’ meeting,” he added.
Currently, the cost of electric cremation stands at Rs 4,500.Earlier on Tuesday, the Special Court acquitted three individuals including the then Member Secretary of Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) Milan Kumar Thapa in the Jalhari case of Pashupatinath.
