Nepal’s Population Witnesses Lowest Growth In 80 Years

Kathmandu, 5 may 2024: Nepal is growing at an annual rate of 0.92 per annum. Dhundiraj Lamichhane, director of the National Statistics Office, Population Section, made the information public while releasing the population literacy book and demographic indicators. According to him, Nepal has a population of around 29.1 million to 9.2 million.

Stating that the annual growth rate of the population is below one percent, he said that this is the lowest in the 80-year history of Nepal. There was an increase of about 2.7 million in the year 2068 and 2078. Lumbini province recorded the highest population growth of 13.8 per cent, he added.

The population growth rate is 0.92 per annum. The population growth rate is below one percent annually. This is the first time in nearly 80 years of annual population growth below one.
