Dumre (Tanahun), Oct 3: The Agriculture Business Promotion Support and Training Centre has imparted a training to working journalists of Gandaki province. The training was aimed at encouraging commercialization and modernization of agriculture by mobilizing journalists to inform the farmers about innovative practices in agro farms.
Acting Chief of Agriculture Training Centre, Nilkantha Pokharel said that the three-day training involving 30 journalists from nine districts of Gandaki province will provide practical knowledge on agricultural technology, farmers’ problems and activities of rural municipalities as well as the expansion of agriculture sector, mass communication and the role of journalism in agriculture development.
Inaugurating the training in Pokhara on Wednesday, Gandaki Province Minister for Land Management and Agriculture Padma Kumari GC stressed the need for all to work laying emphasis on the agriculture sector for the economic development of the country.
“Agriculture sector is the foundation of the country’s prosperity”, she said. Director General of Directorate of Agricultural Development Basudev Regmi, agronomists Kulraj Chalise and Anil Subedi and journalist Ram Chandra Baral of Khoj Pathshala briefed about the innovative practices of journalism and urged the trainees to carry out development and investigative journalism.
