Govt committed to relief and rehabilitation efforts, says PM Oli

Kathmandu, Oct 20: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli reaffirmed that the government is determined and active in fulfilling the responsibility of providing relief materials to the recent disaster survivors and working towards their rehabilitation.

Extending his gratitude to the representatives of various organizations for their contributions to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund on Sunday, PM Oli shared that the survivors of the quake in Jajarkot district last year have been provided second tranche for the reconstruction of quake-damaged houses.
In the meeting held at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar, Oli assured that the efforts to distribute relief materials to the monsoon-induced disaster survivors would be intensified at the earliest.

It may be noted that more that over 250 people died in the flood, landslide and inundation caused by the torrential rainfall in Nepal on September 27-28.
The preliminary assessment puts the damage inflicted by the disasters on the infrastructures at over Rs 46 billion. The government has already declared 71 local levels as the disaster crises zone.

During the meeting, he also thanked all security agencies and other supporting agencies for their prompt and effective disaster response efforts.
On the occasion, Nepal Oil Corporation donated Rs 30 million, Unilever Company Rs 3 million, Machhapuchchhre Bank Rs 2.5 million and an organization of former civil employee Rs 100,000 to the Fund, it was shared.
