Khajura, Nov 4: A person has died while five others of the same family have fallen seriously ill due to food poisoning in Khajura of Banke district.
Sushil Thapa Magar, health assistant at Khajura Rural Municipality, informed that six members of a family of Khajura Rural Municipality-5 fell sick due to food poison and of them, the head of the household, Keshav Ram Ahir, 65, died while being taken to hospital for treatment this morning.
Ahir’s spouse Chaurasiya Yadav, 55, son Bhuwantu Yadav, 36, daughter-in-law Mina Yadav, 35, grandsons Jasaman and Amrit, 14 and 6 respectively, have fallen ill.
The family had eaten cocoyam, lettuce leaves as vegetable with puri (fried bread) in dinner and they all started vomiting at night.
The deceased was taken to hospital only this morning at about 8 am. “We started treatment reaching their home this morning. We have guessed that food poison caused vomiting and diarrhea,” said health assistant Thapa.
