Jhapa, Nov 24: Minister for Water Supply and Sanitation, Pradeep Yadav, has said that it is the government’s primary responsibility to making quality drinking water accessible to all. Minister Yadav said so in course of making onsite observation of the under-construction water supply projects in various places of Jhapa today.On the occasion, he also took stock of the progress of construction of these projects and the challenges encountered in that connection.
Minister Yadav inspected the under-construction water supply overhead tank at Mechinagar and Dhulabari, and instructed the bodies concerned to complete the construction works on time. He stressed on expediting the construction for providing quality drinking water to the consumers as soon as possible.In an interaction with office-bearers of local Surunga-based Surunga Water Supply and Sanitation Consumers Committee and the Morang Sanischare-based Pathari Water Supply and Sanitation Consumers Committee, the Water Supply Minister expressed that government would continue its support to the projects being implemented at local level.
“It is the government’s main responsibility to make quality water supply accessible to all citizens and the government is making efforts to providing convenient and sustainable services through the formulation of required policy and programme,” he said. Minister Yadav also made an onsite observation of the Charali-based Small Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Consumer Committee and the Kakarbhitta-based Kakarbhitta Water Supply Consumer Committee in Jhapa today.
On the occasion, he emphasized on giving priority to collaborative approach towards resolving the challenges seen in the drinking water supply improvement at local level. The Minister also inspected the fecal waste management project and the sanitation management project which are under construction in Jhapa district.
Stating that the government is actively working to addressing the problems related to water supply seem across the country, he said he is committed to bringing improvement in the water supply situation through a strong collaboration with the partners in all levels.
