Kathmandu – Lumbini Lions ve set a target of 192 runs for Biratnagar Kings in the second match of the Nepal Premier League on Wednesday. Lumbini scored 191 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, the highest score of the ongoing NPL season.
This is the highest score scored by Lumbini in the ongoing competition. Earlier, Sudurpaschim Royals had challenged a high score of 182 runs against Biratnagar. Lumbini captain Rohit Poudel, who was invited to bat first after losing the toss at the Kirtipur ground, missed his half-century by 4 runs. While setting this target for Biratnagar, he scored 46 runs in 29 balls with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes.
Tom Moores, who is also an English batsman, scored 30 runs in 17 balls for Lumbini. He hit 1 four and 3 sixes before being run out. Domestic all-rounder Vivek Yadav scored 19 runs unbeaten. He scored well in seven balls with the help of three sixes.
But both Lumbini openers did not bat well. Opener Ashutosh Ghiriya scored 15 and another opener Arjun Saud scored 17 runs. Biratnagar’s Sandeep Lamichhane got Saad bin Zafar caught by Martin Guptill while taking the first wicket of the league. Zafar scored 15 runs in 13 balls. Sandeep Jora scored 12 runs in 13 balls.For the bowling, Ismat Alam, Rajesh Pulami Magar and Sandeep took one wicket each.
