Kathmandu, Jan 01: According to the Gregorian calendar, the New Year 2025 has begun from today.
It is believed that the beginning of AD was born with the hanging of Jesus Christ. Pope Gregorian replaced the Julian calendar with the new calendar, so it is called the New Year according to the Gregorian calendar.
The Julian calendar was introduced by the ruler Julius Caesar. Former administrator and astrologer Dr Khilanath Bastakoti said that due to the controversy, this calendar was introduced only after 200 years in Russia.
Despite the controversy, it is now being propagated worldwide as it was imposed in different places during the colonial period. Although this samvat is not in vogue in Nepal, it is used by the visiting foreigners. AD has been celebrated in different parts of Nepal since a few years ago. This year is celebrated in thamel, Bouddha, Pokhara, Sauraha, Lumbini and other places of Kathmandu.
