Prime Minister Oli extends greetings on Maghe Sankranti

Kathmandu, Jan.14: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has extended greetings on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti or Makar Sankranti through social media today.

“Today is Maghe Sankranti which is also the Maghi festival of the Tharu tribe in the Terai regionThis festival marks the Sun’s shift into the earthy sign of Capricorn, symbolising the end of winters and the arrival of brighter, longer days. It is customary to take holy dips in rivers and ponds, worshiping at various temples and savor delicacies like ghee, yam, Khichadi and sweets such as Chaku and sweets made of sesame and molasses today, ” reads the greeting message.

On the occasion of Maghe Sankranti, the PM has extended best wishes to all Nepali sisters and brothers at home and abroad for their happiness, peace and prosperity.
