U-19 women’s world Cup: Nepal loses by five wickets to Bangladesh

Kathmandu, Jan 18: Nepal has lost to Bangladesh by 5 wickets in its first match of the ICC U-19 T20 Women’s World Cup. In the match held today at the UKM Cricket Oval in Bangi, Malaysia, Bangladesh reached the target of 53 runs set by Nepal for the loss of 5 wickets in just 13.2 overs.

For Bangladesh, Sadia Islam scored 16 runs in 24 balls while Sumaiya Attar scored 12 and Afiya Ashima Ira added nine runs.
Nepal’s Rachana Chaudhary, Riya Sharma, Simana KC and Pooja Mahato took one wicket each. Earlier, put into bat first, Nepal scored only 52 runs after losing all wickets in 18.2 overs. Opener Sana Prabin scored 19 runs in 32 balls and Simana KC contributed 10 runs. Other Nepali batswomen failed to reach double figures.

For the bowling side, Jonathan Maola took two wickets while Anisa Sowa, Foyomodi Choya and Nishita Akhtar took one wicket each.
Nepal will play its second match against Scotland on January 20. Nepal is in Group ‘D’ along with Bangladesh, Scotland and Australia.
In the first match of the same group held earlier today, Australia defeated Scotland by 9 wickets.
