Kathmandu, Apr. 14: President Ramchandra Paudel has extended his greetings to all Nepali citizens at home and abroad, wishing them happiness, peace, prosperity, good health, and longevity on the occasion of Nepali New Year 2082.
The New Year begins on Monday.
“The Bikram Sambat calendar, rooted in ancient Hindu and Vedic traditions, reflects Nepal’s rich cultural heritage and inspires us towards a brighter future. The New Year
is a time to reflect on the past, make resolutions, and commit to national goals,” read the message of President Paudel.
Highlighting the progress made through federal democratic governance, the President acknowledged delays in fulfilling public expectations and urged unity to overcome challenges. Emphasising good governance, domestic production, and youth employment, he called for collective commitment to build a self-reliant economy.
He said that with the world embracing technology, there is the need to strengthen digital practices and prioritise development in agriculture, tourism, water resources, energy, and industry.
Likewise, Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav extended wishes of peace, prosperity, good health, and continued progress to all Nepalis at home and abroad.
“Nepal’s cultural diversity is reflected in the many ways people celebrate the New Year—through unique customs, traditions, and festivals like Satuwain, Jud Shital, Siruwa Pabani, and Biska Jatra. These traditions strengthen the nation’s core identity: unity in diversity,” VP Yadav said in a message.
He urged citizens to embrace the New Year as a time to renew commitments to fraternity, positive change, and national prosperity.
He called for collective efforts toward good governance, development, and climate awareness while protecting Nepal’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
Highlighting the significance of Nepal’s federal democratic republic, VP Yadav expressed hope that the New Year would inspire reforms where necessary and reaffirm constitutional values, including sovereignty, inclusivity, and the rule of law.
