Kathmandu,15 April: The “Suthasia Jatra celebration,”also known as Sindoor Jatra, is an annual festival held in Bhaktapur and Thimi, Nepal, that involves a procession with palanquins carrying deities and the throwing of vermilion powder at each other. This festival, a part of the larger Bisket Jatra, marks the arrival of spring and the New Year in the Nepali calendar, typically celebrated in mid-April.
This festival has been celebrated in the morning today . A Sindoor Jatra with 32 khats has been organized in Madhyapur Thimi.During the Sindoor Jatra, it is customary to bring the khat with the ganas of Balkumari and Siddhikali and then start the jatra after the Balkumari enters.
The jatra is celebrated by playing various traditional instruments, rotating the khat of the deity, applying vermilion to each other, and playing vermilion with each other.
