Bhaktapur: The Grade 12 examinations are taking place at designated centers across the country from today, according to the National Examination Board (NEB). According to NEB, the exams will be held daily from 8 AM to 11 AM and will continue until May 16.
A total of 1,590 examination centers have been established in Nepal, with an additional center set up in Japan. Kathmandu has the highest number of centers at 162, while Manang and Mustang have the fewest, with one center each.
NEB has urged students to attend the examinations with confidence and positivity. To ensure smooth operations, the Board has deployed center heads, assistant center heads, around 2,000 administrative staff, at least one office assistant per center, and approximately 20,000 security personnel based on the student volume.
This year, 511,525 students from 5,202 schools will appear for the exams—198,875 male and 197,130 female students. The district with the highest number of examinees is Kathmandu, with 68,133, while Manang has the fewest, with just 45 participants.
Examination Controller Krishna Prasad Sharma informed that special arrangements have been made for students with hearing impairments, visual impairments, intellectual disabilities, or other physical challenges. Provisions have also been made for students in prisons or juvenile correction centers.
Strict security measures are in place. Unauthorized entry to examination centers will not be permitted without approval from the District Examination Coordination Committee or the Examination Controller. If any center head, assistant head, or invigilator fails to follow protocol, they will be replaced immediately.
Only center heads are permitted to carry mobile phones inside the exam centers. Students are strictly prohibited from bringing mobile phones, smartwatches, or any electronic devices except for basic calculators without preloaded content. Violations by teachers, staff, or students involving prohibited materials will be penalized under Section 17(1A) ‘F’ of the Education Act, 2028.
