Kathmandu: The ‘Martyrs’ and Disappeared’ Warrior Children Foundation’ has welcomed the Supreme Court’s order that all incidents occurred during the Maoist People’s War will be investigated and resolved according to transitional justice.
In a statement, the foundation’s chairman, Sandeep Pun, welcomed the Supreme Court’s order to investigate and resolve all incidents based on the ‘Comprehensive Peace Agreement’ signed in the historical background of the People’s War in accordance with transitional justice.
On Wednesday, a constitutional bench comprising Chief Justice Prakash Man Singh Raut, Senior-most Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla, Justices Kumar Regmi, Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma and Dr. Kumar Chudal passed the order on a writ petition seeking an investigation into the incident related to former Speaker and Maoist Vice-Chairman Agni Prasad Sapkota. The Supreme Court has held that the resolution of conflict-era incidents cannot be done through a regular process as per the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
