Kathmandu, Aug 22 : The student wing of Nepal’s ruling CPN (Maoist Centre) has strongly opposed a recent trade agreement between India and China that references the Lipulekh region, which remains a subject of territorial dispute between Nepal and its southern and northern neighbors.
In a statement issued on Friday, the All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union (Revolutionary) described the deal as a violation of Nepal’s sovereignty and international law. The group argued that no agreement involving Nepali territory is valid without Nepal’s consent.
“Lipulekh has always been a part of Nepal historically, geographically, and politically,” the statement said. “Agreements made without Nepal’s involvement are unacceptable.”

The union’s Vice Chairman and Head of its International Department, Sandip Pun, urged the Government of Nepal to register formal protests through diplomatic and legal channels, including at the United Nations and other international platforms.
Pun also appealed to international organizations, civil society, and youth groups to speak out against what he called an infringement on Nepal’s sovereign rights.
The statement ended with a call to resist regional dominance and uphold international law, stating: “Down with Expansionism! Respect International Law! Long Live Nepal’s Sovereignty!”
