Kathmandu: A curfew has been enforced in the Baneshwor area of Kathmandu today, running from 12:30 PM to 10:00 PM, following security concerns linked to the ongoing ‘Gen G’ protests.
The order was issued by Chief District Officer Chhabilal Rijal, who cited the infiltration of interest groups into the demonstration as the reason behind the sudden move. The District Administration Office (DAO) confirmed that the decision was made under Section 6 of the Local Administration Act, 2028.
During the curfew hours, all public activities — including rallies, protests, assemblies, and gatherings — are strictly banned within the affected zone.
Officials have urged the public to avoid any movement in the area until the curfew is lifted, warning of strict enforcement to maintain law and order.
