Lalitpur – Tensions ran high at KIST Hospital in Lalitpur on Sunday after the relatives of a woman who died during treatment accused hospital staff of negligence.
According to the police, the situation turned volatile when the woman’s family members, enraged by her death, broke through the hospital’s security barriers and began vandalizing hospital property. The unrest escalated further as the crowd threw stones and bricks at security personnel, prompting police to use tear gas to disperse the protesters.
The incident follows the death of a pregnant woman on Saturday at the hospital. Her relatives have alleged that medical negligence was to blame for her death, and they have expressed frustration over the hospital’s failure to engage in any formal discussions with them regarding the matter.
In response to the growing unrest, the police have heightened security around the hospital. Efforts are now underway to de-escalate the situation and facilitate a meeting between the hospital authorities and the grieving family to address their concerns.
