Rain and snowfall likely across several provinces today

Kathmandu: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division has said that Nepal’s weather today is being affected by western winds and a low-pressure system over the Arabian Sea.

Currently, the country is experiencing generally cloudy conditions, with light rain reported in some parts of Gandaki and Bagmati provinces.

By this afternoon, the weather is expected to remain mostly cloudy in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in other hilly areas. Meanwhile, the Terai region will see partly cloudy skies.

Moderate rain and snowfall are likely in some areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces, along with a few hilly and mountainous regions of other provinces. In the higher hills and mountainous parts of Gandaki Province, heavy rain accompanied by snowfall is also possible.

During the night, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces, along with hilly regions, will remain generally cloudy, while the Terai will see partial cloud cover.

The Division has also predicted moderate rain and snowfall in some hilly and mountainous areas, and isolated heavy snowfall in high-altitude regions of Gandaki Province.

Authorities have advised the public to take precautions, as heavy rain and snowfall could disrupt daily life, mountaineering, farming, and tourism activities in parts of Gandaki Province. Today, the sun rose at 6:12 AM and will set at 5:23 PM.
