Encouraging turnout in voter registration : Election Commission

Kathmandu: The Election Commission has reported enthusiastic public participation in the ongoing nationwide voter list compilation ahead of the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) elections.

According to Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, voter registration has seen a significant rise in recent weeks. The registration drive will continue until November 16.

The House of Representatives election is set for March 5, 2026. Only those whose names are included in the voter roll and who will have turned 18 years old by March 4, 2026, will be eligible to cast their votes.

The Commission has called on all Nepali citizens who will reach voting age by that date and possess a citizenship certificate to ensure their names are registered by the deadline.

Due to the overwhelming response, officials noted that heavy online traffic has caused some technical difficulties for registrants.

As in previous years, once the House of Representatives election concludes, citizens aged 16 and above who hold a citizenship certificate will again be eligible to register for the voter list.
