Shankharapur Accident Update: Five dead identified, 23 injured undergoing treatment

Kathmandu – The death toll from the bus accident that occurred on Wednesday evening in Shankharapur Municipality–3, Kathmandu, has risen to five.

So far, 23 injured people are receiving treatment, while five others have been discharged after receiving general treatment.

According to the Kathmandu District Police Range, the identities of all five deceased have now been confirmed.

Those who lost their lives in the accident are: 49-year-old Kamana Sharma of Kohalpur; 51-year-old Indira Limbu of Taplejung; 55-year-old Shanti Gupta, a resident of Pepsi Cola, Kathmandu; 65-year-old Devendra Limbu, originally from Panchthar and residing in Gothatar; and 60-year-old Arjun Lamichhane of Jorpati, Kathmandu. Earlier last night, only three of the victims had been identified.

The accident occurred on Wednesday evening at the Fedi Jungle road section of Shankharapur Municipality–3, when a Metropolitan Transport bus (registration number Ba 4 Kha 8788), returning to Sankhu after a picnic trip to Jarsipaun, veered off the road and plunged approximately 100 meters downhill.

Police reported that the injured are currently receiving treatment at Shankharapur Hospital, Mulpani Municipal Hospital, Sushma Koirala Hospital in Sankhu, Nepal Medical College in Jorpati, People’s Life Care Hospital, and Teaching Hospital.
