Kathmandu: Kathmandu Valley experienced a chilly start to Sunday, with the mercury falling to 3°C in the early morning hours.
The Weather Forecasting Division reported that the temperature was recorded at 3.0°C at 5:45 am. This figure is considered a preliminary reading, as the official minimum temperature is determined at 8:45 am, by which time it is likely to decline further.
On Saturday, the valley had recorded an even lower minimum temperature of 2.6°C. The Division regularly monitors and publishes daily temperature data from across the country. While the minimum temperature is officially measured at 8:45 am, the maximum temperature is recorded at 5:45 pm.
The lowest temperature observed during the day is classified as the minimum, whereas the highest is taken as the maximum temperature.
