Kathmandu – The second special convention of the Nepali Congress is beginning today. Representatives aligned with the convention from all districts have already arrived in Kathmandu.
According to Manojmani Acharya, coordinator of the Secretariat for the Second Special Convention Management, registration of representatives will start today (Sunday) from 8:00 am. He said registration will be conducted at stalls near the main gate of Bhrikutimandap, the venue of the convention.
In a notice issued by Acharya, representatives have been requested to bring any valid identification document, one passport-size photograph, and a registration fee of Rs 1,000 while coming for registration. The inauguration of the special convention will take place at 1:00 pm today at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu.
On Ashoj 29, more than 54 percent of the general convention representatives had demanded a special convention. The initiative was led by General Secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwo Prakash Sharma. According to Article 17 (2) of the Nepali Congress statute, a special convention must be convened within three months if at least 40 percent of the general convention representatives formally demand it.
