Kathmandu – The second day of the Nepali Congress’s special general convention has begun with a closed session. During the closed session, an election committee has been formed. The committee will be headed by Sitaram KC, the president of the Democratic Lawyers Association (DLA), which is closely affiliated with the Nepali Congress.
The members of the election committee include Ashok Pokhrel, Gokarn Banjade, RC Bimal Paudel, and Ramchandra Gautam. There are ongoing discussions at Baluwatar among party president Sher Bahadur Deuba, Dr. Shekhar Koirala, and other supporters of the special general convention to reach a consensus.
The closed session began with the presence of General Secretaries Bishwoprakash Sharma and Gagan Kumar Thapa while the talks were still ongoing. Meanwhile, the central committee meeting, which was scheduled for 11 a.m. by the party’s leadership, has been postponed. The meeting, originally planned at the party’s central office at BP Smriti Bhawan in Lalitpur, has been rescheduled to 1 p.m. In a notice issued by Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel, central committee officials, members, invited members, and party presidents from all seven provinces have been requested to attend the meeting at 1 p.m.
