Kathmandu: The Nepali Congress (NC) has entered the election phase of its special general convention, with the Election Committee announcing the timetable for selecting new party leadership.
Election Committee coordinator and senior advocate Sitaram KC made the schedule public on Wednesday. According to the announced plan, voting will begin at 9:00 pm today.
As per the schedule, the preliminary voters’ list will be published at 12:30 pm. A one-hour window, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, has been allocated for filing claims and objections, as well as for discussions on the voters’ list. The final voters’ list will be released at 4:00 pm.
Similarly, the final list of candidates is set to be published at 8:45 pm, shortly before the commencement of polling.
The decision to proceed with the election process was taken by a five-member Election Committee entrusted with conducting the central committee election. Earlier, the committee led by Khamba Bahadur Khati was dissolved, and a new Election Committee under the leadership of Sitaram KC was formed on Tuesday morning to oversee the process.
