Film journalist Sitoula passes away during treatment

Kathmandu — Dinesh Sitoula, former President of the Film Journalists Association of Nepal, has passed away. Grande International Hospital issued a statement today confirming that he died at 12:45 PM.

Sitoula had suddenly collapsed while participating in an election campaign in Achham for Balendra Shah (Balen), Senior Leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and former Mayor of Kathmandu. He was immediately airlifted to Kathmandu by an army helicopter and admitted to Grande International Hospital.

According to the statement released by the hospital, despite 48 hours of intensive critical care, no improvement was observed in his neurological condition, and there were no signs of recovery of brain function. The patient’s family was thoroughly counseled regarding his condition. In accordance with medical protocol, an apnea test was conducted to assess brain function, which yielded a positive result, indicating the absence of spontaneous respiration. The hospital confirmed that he passed away at 12:45 PM.
