NEA advises employees to uphold institutional dignity while using social media

Kathmandu — The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has cautioned its employees to be mindful of the institution’s dignity and reputation while using social media.

The Authority has reminded all employees working under it that complying with the conduct-related provisions outlined in the NEA Employee Service and Conditions Regulations is their responsibility.

In recent times, the Authority has expressed concern over a growing trend of posting and sharing unverified, misleading, and imaginary content on social media and in the media, including official office letters, in a manner that negatively impacts the reputation of society and the institution.

NEA Deputy Director Narayan Prasad Acharya stated that discouraging such practices among employees and ensuring the dignified, disciplined, and constructive use of social media requires positive cooperation from all concerned.

In accordance with the provisions of the NEA Employee Service and Conditions Regulations, 2075 (2018), employees have been formally instructed not to post office letters or other unnecessary content on social media in ways that violate prescribed standards of conduct.

The Authority has further clarified that if employees make unnecessary posts or comments, their details will be collected and departmental action will be taken as per the provisions of the regulations.
